JAKARTA—On the first weekend of August, Buttonijo celebrated the soft-launching of its anticipated USB Sinema program—as one of its marvelous films “Another Trip to the Moon” was once more screened and enjoyed together with local-movie enthusiasts. The screening events–yes, there were two events, two days in a row—were held on August 1st and 2nd 2015, respectively at Paviliun 28 and The 1O1 Hotels Dharmawangsa.
Both events were neatly organized by Sinema Rabu and media partner Info Screening, with each day consisting of two screening schedules. Around 100 attendants in total came to the screening of the surreal movie that once raided Kineforum for all weekends of July 2015.
After the end of each movie-watching, which left the audience struck with awe, director Ismail Basbeth entered the stage for some Q&A sessions. Questions from movie critics, film communities, and even regular civilians aroused and insightfully answered by the man behind movie “Mencari Hilal” and his team.
Another Trip to the Moon screening by Sinema Rabu and Info Screening was the trial of Buttonijo’s USB Sinema program. All the expected schemes from ordering to using the USB for screening and earning money—were applied successfully. And of course, no fees taken from the event’s ticketing income for Buttonijo’s advantage.
This marked the efficiency of local movies distribution by USB Sinema. Hopefully in the future, self-screening events will be as interesting as, or better yet, more popular than regular cinemas.
