Surabaya—Buttonijo’s first stop for its workshop series ended up successfully on Sunday, September 27th 2015. As planned, DuaTiga Project as the host of the event, held three screening sessions at Wisma Jerman from 2.00 p.m. up until 6.00 p.m., and wrapped it up with “DISTRIBUSI FILM” discussion.
The screening featured movie “THE JAK” from director Andibachtiar Yusuf and Amir Pohan, provided by Buttonijo using its USB Sinema program. Numerous film communities of Surabaya came down the venue to appreciate not only the event, but also the local film.
“Kemarin, Buttonijo beruntung bisa ketemu banyak komunitas film di Surabaya—Yesterday, Buttonijo was so lucky to meet many film communities in Surabaya,” said Ricas, Buttonijo’s representation for the event.
Throughout the screenings and the discussion, attendance discovered a lot about the issue of film distribution, and got encouraged to start discovering their own ways to help solving the problem. USB Sinema was the star of the show, giving obvious example of how a little thing can make a big impact on the whole Indonesian film industry.
After the exciting screening and insightful discussion ended at Wisma Jerman, Ricas continued, Buttonijo was invited to Gedung Srimulat at Kompleks Taman Hiburan Remaja Surabaya to meet even more film activists of the city.
“Buttonijo juga diberi kesempatan untuk menyapa teman-teman komunitas film se-Surabaya yang kebetulan sedang mengadakan pertemuan—Buttonijo also earned a chance to greet fellow film communities of the whole Surabaya which were having a gathering,” he added.
The screening event was great, but the opportunity to join the community gathering was a perfect addition. Aside of the chance to introduce one of its movies and programs, Buttonijo obtained a greater way to promote initiatives in film distribution. The screening, the discussion, and the gathering opened more minds about Indonesian film issue that needs to be solved, and Buttonijo drove youth to start thinking about what they could do to help.
It doesn’t have to be big, to help Indonesian film industry.
Screenings and discussions are enough.
