Jember—Exactly one week ago, a continuation of Buttonijo’s USB Sinema Workshop occurred in East Java. It marked the 3rd stop of Buttonijo’s whole program, after Surabaya and Palu. Layar Kemisan was the one who initiated the move, and with the help of Universitas Jember, a venue of Indonesian film appreciation was created in the form of an incredible two-day screening event.
A total of 75 people came down to Home Theater Fakultas Sastra Universitas Jember, and celebrated the local film with Buttonijo. Film “The Mirror Never Lies” by director Kamila Andini was proudly projected throughout the event, taking two sessions on Wednesday, October 21st 2015 and one session on Thursday, October 22nd 2015.
After the last session on its second day ended, a talkshow with theme “Distribusi Film Bersama Buttonijo” was conducted. Talks, speeches, encouragements, motivations—all positive vibes in hoping to fire up the spirit of supporting local films were all pronounced along the talkshow. The whole series of event turned out to be an inspiring "dolan" (Javanese word for "play") time for everybody who came.
Once again, Buttonijo successfully encouraged people to come and follow the support for Indonesian films. But that’s not the main thing to be admired from its workshop in Jember. It was the enthusiasm of youth shown during the event, which needs extra credit from everybody. Because who else will help saving the industry, if it is not these college students and younger generation?
